Adult Cardiac/Telemetry Unit



Care of a diverse patient population with a primary diagnosis of cardiovascular disease.

Patient Population
  • Adult
  • Diagnoses include: Congestive Heart Failure, Coronary Artery Disease, Post Myocardial Infarction and Cardiac Dysrhythmia
  • Average length of stay: 3 days

Number of Beds
  • 18 (all telemetry monitored)

Nurse/Patient Ratio
  • 7A: 1:4-5
  • 7P: 1:5

Rotation/Shifts
  • 12 hour shifts 7a-7p and 7p-7a
  • Master schedule that repeats itself over a period of time over a 4 week time frame enabling the employee to know their schedule in advance
  • Every 4th weekend

Skill Mix
  • Registered Nurse 65%
  • Patient Care Technician 35%
  • Clinical Educator support
  • Required competencies: Dysrhythmia certification; ACLS recommended

  • 6-8 weeks
