General Medicine Unit



The General Medicine Unit provides care to adult patients with a variety of general medical needs.

Patient Population
  • Congestive Heart Failure
  • Diabetes
  • Pneumonia
  • Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease
  • Sickle Cell Anemia
  • Nutritional Disorders
  • Skin Integrity Disorders

Number of Beds
  • 38

Nurse/Patient Ratio
  • 7a 1:4-6
  • 7p 1:4-6

Rotation/Shifts
  • 12 hour shifts 7a-7p and 7p-7a
  • Modified Self Scheduling
  • Work every 3rd or 4th weekend

Skill Mix
  • Registered Nurse - 65%
  • Patient Care Technician - 35%

Nursing Unit Orientation
  • 6-8 weeks with designated preceptor
