The Nursing Quality Council
The nursing services quality program is developed in concert with, and integrated into, the overall quality plan of UAB Hospital while maintaining a discipline-specific focus that holds nursing accountable for nursing-sensitive outcomes.
The Purpose of the Council
The purpose of the performance/quality program for nursing services is to maintain a comprehensive approach for the identification, measurement, and evaluation of key structures, processes, and outcomes related to the delivery of professional nursing care.
Quality Defined
Quality is defined as the degree to which health services for individuals, families, and the community increases the likelihood of desired outcomes consistent with current nursing knowledge in a cost effective manner.
