Nursing Research

Understanding and participating in nursing based research and evidence based nursing practice (EBNP) is a large part of today’s nursing.

Here at UAB University Hospital, we are taking steps to be not only aware of nursing research and EBNP, but to support our nursing staff in understanding, utilizing, participating, and conducting research and EBNP projects. Our EBNP Council meets once a month to help facilitate this process.

The overall goals of the council are to:

• Create the environment and advocate for resources supportive of nursing research and evidence-based nursing practice.
• Facilitate the dissemination of research findings and the interpretation of evidence-based nursing practice.
• Systematically assess, monitor, and critique evidence-based activities.
• Prioritize nursing research in alignment with the nursing and organizations strategic plan and objectives.
• Evaluate and approve areas of clinical and administrative inquiry suitable for nursing research
