The Adult Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery Unit provides specialized care to adult patients requiring cardiovascular surgery, thoracic surgery, and cardiac catheterization.

Patient Population

• Adult Patients
• CABG, Valve Repair/Replacement
• Thoracic Aneurysm Repair/Aortic Dissection
• Congenital Heart Defect Repair
• Brochoscopy, Wedge Resections, Partial Lobectomies
• Pneumonectomy using Video Assisted Surgery (VATS)

• 22

Nurse/Patient Ratio

• 7a 1:3.5 - 1:4
• 7p 1:4

Rotation/Shifts

• 12 hour shifts 7a-7p and 7p-7a
• Master schedule with 4 week rotation

Skill Mix

• Registered Nurse - 70%
• Patient Care Technician - 30%

• 8-10 weeks
