Regional Newborn Intensive Care Unit (RNICU)
The Regional Newborn Intensive Care Unit provides care for infants with varying diagnoses, including extreme prematurity and cardiac defects, in an environment equipped with the latest patient care technology.

Patient Population
  • Critically ill infants with complicated diagnoses associated with pre-maturity
  • Cardiac surgery

Number of Beds
  • 24

Nurse/Patient Ratio
  • 1:2 standard
  • 1:1 for extremely ill neonates

Rotation/Shifts
  • 12 hour shifts 8a-8p and 8p-8a
  • Work every 4th weekend

Skill Mix
  • Registered Nurse - 93%
  • Patient Care Technician - 7%

Nursing Unit Orientation
  • 10-12 weeks
