Career Advancement Program

Career Advancement Program

The Career Advancement Program (CAP) at UAB Hospital is a program:
  • for full- and part-time registered nurses in direct patient care positions
  • designed and led by nurses
  • that recognizes achievements
  • that provides an increase in pay accordingly
The Goal of CAP

The goal is to encourage professional growth and development, and to acknowledge RNs who have advanced clinical, leadership, educational, and research skills. The program encourages each nurse to function at the highest level of professionalism and rewards those who demonstrate excellence in patient- and family-centered care.

Three-Level Program

In this three-level program, all new hires begin at Level I and advance according to criteria designed for each specialty. Nurses rise to the next level through achievements in leadership, education, research, and clinical areas. In many cases, the program may recognize and reward nurses for tasks they are already undertaking. It’s UAB’s way of showing our appreciation for your dedication.
